There's No Place Like Home.
Don't let the title fool you- I really could have used another week or two. Man, do vacations rule! Kevin and I each took about 500 pictures- put 'em together and we've got a TON of frozen memories. And a few cool videos, too- one featuring an Irish burro eagerly devouring the apple we offered out the window as a peace offering. My Nikon held up. More on that during our Digital Cam War Finale on Monday's TSS.
It was a truly wonderful journey through the U.K. and Republic of Ireland. I'm too jet lagged and hungry to say much more, but rest assured I'll be writing a novella after a night or two of hibernation. For now, enjoy a few pics!
From London's ferris wheel we marvel at Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament:
My Mirror Project obsession produces a fine piece at the local laundrette:
Chillin above Ireland's Cliffs of Moher:
A nice little beach along the Ring of Kerry:
I hear my bed calling me. It's been terribly neglected and I must try to salvage our friendship. More pics and stories to come!
Welcome home Sarah!! :)

The third picture just take my breathe away. I could spend hours looking at it. Every second I spend looking at it is followed by dreams of being there in person.

No....
Stop posting those pics of Europe, it wants me to go back there, to live this time. Love the pic of London there, have one similar myself... (aaaah, the memories - the jetlag, the lack of sleep on the flight over-27 hrs....)

It's a really high-class (unwed) girl that goes on national TV and WWW to advertise that she's going on a vacation with a guy, obviously sleeping together along the way. Real class.

Paularms: I agree, some of the comments are uncalled for. Especially Jimmy's. There's no need to rain on anyone's parade. Anyway, I can't believe how beautiful it is over there. I also have never seen such awesome shades of green. I wanna go on vacation to europe too. Keep em' comin' Sarah, you're the greatest. It's always good to be back home, and I would wanna live there too. Well, I'm glad things went well and since both of you must be tired. I wish the two of you pleasant dreams ;).

It looks like you and Kevin had a fun trip. too bad you lost the camera face off but I think it was worth it for the rest of us. I am still on the digital camera fence like so many others. I will get one someday, though I did take a vow to wait for oled screens mainly due to power consumption. Other than battery life the one thing I wish you’d talk about is lag time. the el cheapo model I used for five seconds took nearly a second between snapping and actually taking the picture. Even a tenth is unnacceptable but I don’t want an expensive professional model, nor the added bulk. Anyway if you get a chance to review that part I’d appreciate it. The pics all looked great and I loved the donkey video and your story of the old man. I never knew facial structure was so useful in determining ancestry. Also tell kevin or the other lan party guy whose name escapes me a friend of mine has figured out how to play halo online at gamespy. He said the host had a slight advantage, which would be good since you guys normally seem to get your butts kicked.

Oh, wow... such a sweet syrupy couple... not married... fornicating... sleeping together... The kind of girl every mother wants her son to meet... The kind of guy every mother wants her daughter to meet... spreading venerial deseases... By the way Sarah - i'm a lonely person and don't have much else to do but type anonymously and try and get a reaction.
Posted by: baste | Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at 07:36 PM
My only question is, I've read the entire blog, yet I can't find one instance of "Kevin and I slept together last night...." Methinks some people need to mind their bid-ness... thats right, just mind ya bid-ness!

You two idiots should stop acting like horny twleve year old boys. If Sarah wanted you to know about her private life she would tell you. Mind your own damn business. Sarah, the pictures are great. I have never seen such great shots and the video you guys showed on TSS was amazing. If only I had the money to spend on one. Yours looks kind of intimidating so I may have to get Kevin's model. Wasn't his 300 or 400 dollars?

I really enjoyed the picture of the cliff with the steep drop off. You guy must have had a blast.

Hey Sarah! I just ordered the Nikon 5400 due to your happiness with it. I like your pics. I hope to see more. I'm a graphic designer and amateur photographer. I hope this camera does a good job.
Posted by: Roy | Thursday, August 14, 2003 at 03:23 PM
Yeah, it's like baste said "By the way Sarah - i'm a lonely person and don't have much else to do but type anonymously and try and get a reaction". Give a dog a bone then he'll wanna hump your leg. Ignorance is such sweet bliss. It's good that the decent people outweigh the lamers. Everyone should be thankful that Sarah shares a little of her life and informs us with useful bits of information. I know I am and many others are thankful too. Stay cool everybody.

How to rename the Control Panel: (yea, I got sucked into the 'challenge.' Took me 5 minutes) ;)
There are 2 places that need editing. One is in the Treeview for any explorer windows where you see the files/folders, the other is on the start menu itself:
Treeview:
In xp, copy the Shell32.dll from the win/sys32 folder to somewhere else. Open the copy up in a resource editor like this one; http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/
Look for String table #261. Highlight the Control Panel Text and replace it with whatever you want. I prefer 'Shabbadooooo' *g*
Click the Compile Script button and save it as the same filename. Rename the original one in the winsys32 folder to something like .original so you can go back if you want. Since the Shell32.dll is in use, XP will toss a couple dialog boxes at you asking you to restore the original file and are you sure, type of stuff, just let it rename the file. (i.e. Cancel, OK)
Move the one you edited into the winsys32 folder. Done.
Start Menu:
You're gonna do the same process here too, but the string to look for is in Explorer.exe (windows folder) and string table #515. You don't have to make it the same as the other one. I put Hula Hula Wakka Dula for my test. Repeat the steps above for this one except, saving it in the windows folder. Reboot the computer and you will see the changes.
You could put any name in there .. Sassy Sarah Snodgrass, Puckered Starfish, whatever. That's the 'hard' way, I could make a small app to do it all for ya, but uhm ... I'm not gonna. =)
Check out the final screenshot of it at http://www.angelfire.com/psy/sdc_rox_yer_fr0
p.s. To go back to the original just delete the new ones and rename the .originals back and reboot obviously.

The pictures are just beautiful. Please continue to post more. I would love to visit there one day and I'll bring granola bars so I don't starve when I don't like the food (those fried mars bars look interesting, though).
