Best Commercial Ever

I'm amazed... who knew Gene Kelly was so very supafly?
But seriously, VW dominates advertising. Consistently. Bravo.

Cheers

WOOT that was awsome! GO GO Gadget VW. My favorite car company. I own a 2000 Golf. :D

... ahh right.. that was really really strange...

cool ad.

anyone know of a good site for bit torrents for TSS ???

Hey, I had this post on my blog last week. Can i get props for it too?

Great work on TSS Sarah. I never miss it.

I was driving up 38th about to turn on to 8th ..and there is this short blonde girl just trapped in the intersection like a deer in the headlamps (of NYC traffic)

I swore I almost just hit Ms. Lane's double (who made it back to the safty of the sidewalk shortly after I had a succeful test of my abs brakes.)

Now for all the related comments...
Yes VW ..very cool. for my brothers 1st car we got him a Jetta...then upon graduation high school a passat...and now as he graduated from UNI we got him a "more adult" car and imported a diplomatic pkge Audi s8.

Mean while our mother had a VW phaeton (w12=vroom) ...it's funny in that my brother never drives the audi and always sneaks the phaeton out of the garage ...meanwhile my mother always tries to sneak out the Audi. (sadly none of the other cars ever get touched outside of matinence)

The phaeton is no more (smashed)

Fin.

oh I forgot...the new golf rocks...6spd. very fast.
and the new passat=mini phateon
new jetta....has seen better days.

There's always consequences. I see my own trackback up there, but I changed the headline after I posted it, but Sarah's trackback stuck and I broke the link. Oh well.

That was so freakin sweet!!! What if the name of that song? Gotta have it!!

I don't know the name of that version the song. but the original song is "singing in the rain" and is it just me or does the technoized beat sound like it's "new years day" by U2

I disagree, THIS is the best commercial eva!

Warning, some nudity, but it is an actual commercial.

Here's two commercials you won't see during the superbowl, but you can download!

Budwiser: http://www.budweiser.com/wardrobe_malfunction.html

Go Daddy:

Sarah,

That commercial is the best! A vid any film 101 student can appreciate. VW does have the best advertising, and they have for nearly 50 years. Great work on the show!

Pretty darn sweet. Are you gonna watch the Super Bowl, Sarah?

michael! You can't download TSS! That's *gasp* illegal! However if you wanted to download internet domain or stuff you own legally - you could always try torrentspy.com, lokitorrent.com or torrentreactor.net.

am i the only one who disliked that commercial?? honestly, all of this computer-animating-old-famous-movie-stars-in-order-to-get-a-chuckle is starting to really get annoying... the original was beautiful enough, why ruin it for the sake of advertising...

"... the original was beautiful enough, why ruin it for the sake of advertising"

I think you just answered your own question there matt, if it makes a buck its worth it. Capitalism 101

Ok its weird yet oddly interesting.

Go Eagles

This is freaking terrible! First it's Fred Astaire with a vacuum cleaner, then John Wayne in a beer ad, and now this mess. I mean, it's clearly acceptable when used under an artistic license, like in "Forrest Gump" and "Sky Captain". But when someone uses an artist's performance to make a quick buck, it's downright shameful.

thst's pretty funny.

If you think thats funny then watch this.

If anyone wants a gmail invite that doesn’t already have one, feel free to email me for one. I will have plenty for awhile since google handed me about 50 invites today. No catch, just free gmail. My email is on my site (so i can avoid email harvesters).

I found out the song is done by a group called Mint Royale. Still looking for a place to get it.

boooooooo quicktime

Interesting...Reminds me of the concept of the movie Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (I'm dating myself here). Great movie!
I will be giving away some gmail invites on my site within the next view days. Come by, take a look, and check back, I have 50 to give away to those few people who still don't have 'em!

A little help?

I've just been switched over to QWest's new cellphone plan & have been offered the following phones (for free):

Samsung A680
Sanyo 8200
Nokia 6225

... anyone have PRO/CON bits of advice?

You're all nuts! LOLOL. First of all, that's not Gene Kelly in the commercial. Only the music from the film is used. Secondly, Sarah, that's not the best commercial ever. This is...

http://www.uiowa.edu/~commstud/adclass/1984.apple_ad.mov

Its directed by Ridley Scott, too.

That's pretty cool.

Sarah your great and so professional through all the changes. You should replace Dan Rather. But you should stop listening to wardrobe and trust your instinct's.And watch the movie "Attack of the Killer Bimbos" Hey what happened to Chi Lan?

this ad gives credence to the fact that R Kelly is innocent!

I'm torn on this commercial....on one hand I feel kinda like they have violated Gene Kelly somehow especially since he is dead and obviously had no say in this. But on the the other hand....it does look cool.

I mean here is a man that is world famous for his dancing and what do they do? They digitally erase his body/dance moves just leaving his head and paste on some anonymous dancers body.

Again...it looked cool...but at the same time it seemed so creepy that they would do this to a Hollywood legend.

Best I've seen in a very long time.

That was awesome. I like Kev's Citroen commercial better though. I can't remember the link, but it is cool. This one is right up there.

Yea that commercial was funny but i think the geico commercials are really funny like the one with the caveman, the hair one and the tiny house. You don't expect to be a commercial.

Invalid email address 'mario underslash ro9 at yahoo dot com' hmmm..

And who could ever forget the old commercials featuring the Energizer bunny. Classic stuff.

sarah,
i lived in sebastopol for the first 14 years of my life. i bet you know my brother or sisters. please email me back or something because i would be very interested about your sebastopol stories. I bet you have some good stories from "old main" bar.
Chris

Mint Royale have no immediate plans to release the song... there is no download currently available...

Mrs. rossiter - she was my music history/music theory teacher. she found ways to get me on every "field trip" any of her other classes went on as a "chaperone" she bought my yearbooks for me and she was there for me when my mom passed away. she's awesome!

6. What personal activity, when performed in public, bothers you the most?
I have a co-worker who picks out her toejam at least 3X/day at work...gross!

7. Ok, so there's a $50 bill lying on the ground. You pick it up. Dumbfounded by your incredible luck, what do you selfishly purchase?

I figure things out on my own SOOO easy that alot of people need to be "Walked through"

I've got a copy of the song ripped from the commerical, as well as an extended version that could actually count as a remix of the remix. If anybody wants them, let me know.

I'd like to own the GEICO commercial where the caveman goes: "Not cool!" That's the funniest commercial I've seen in a long time. E-mail me if you have it (geniusisinsanity@hotmail.com).

if you guys wanna watch the commercials they are on

http://www.funnyclipcentral.com

just search for geico or caveman

I have a question. Can I get some kind of code that amaazing VW, singing in the rain commercial? I would like to put it on my website

-Kate

that song sounds like the one used by Lacoste on their website, i think it's "in the mood. Kenzo used it too.
